Market Rasen RFC 17 v 23 Mellish RFC

Tries: Biggy, Andy B, Rafa
Conversions: Neilson (2)
Pens: Neilson

A bright and breezy Mid-Lincolnshire afternoon welcomed the Mellish boys to the home of Market Rasen.

Mellish, with a number of changes to the starting 15 in line with their successful rotation policy fielded a number of new faces when compared to last week’s squad and the match against Derby.

The game saw the return of the athletic Peat at second row and the ex-Spanish national side player Rafa on the wing. Mellish quickly got into their stride with notable success in the set piece and in particular the lineout.

The Mellish front eight, eloquently marshalled by the Welsh wizard neilson took the upper hand and were seen on a number of occasions to out-drive and out-maul the Rasen pack.

Spirited play by our backs also saw the balance of play swing in our favour with tries from Andy B and Rafa. Perhaps the highlight of the game was the magnificently determined try from Biggy which saw the Mellish number eight skip past a number of Rasen players to score under the posts.

Mellish now look forward to one of the highlights of the season and their home fixture against local friends and rivals West Bridgford
