The second half saw Mellish initially take
their foot off the gas which let the Derby side seize the initiative
on several occasions returning 2 well worked tries.
However the strong Mellish front 8 came back with a vengeance with powerful
displays from Alex W, Ollie, Hargreaves, Daz, Butch and the ‘evergreen’
Wheldon culminating in a wonderfully worked try for the ‘dazzling’
Andy B.
Overall the Mellish win was well deserved
and reflected the balance of play.
Notable highlights on the day were debuts for Ben Bexon and also for
newcomer Wade Lees both of whom gave a very good account of themselves
and are obvious future first team candidates.
Final score Mellish 34 Derby 15.
